I can't believe that Ian has been gone for two years.  Where does the time go?  I still have several of his Baby's First Christmas outfits hanging in the closet.  I am so sad that he never had a first Christmas.  I can still remember the feel of his hair on my cheek.  I will cherish those memories always.  I just wish there could have been more!

On the front page of our local newspaper today there is an article on Influenza A.  It states that the flu season that Ian died, 2003-2004, 153 children between 2 weeks old and 17 years died.  47% of those children were healthy, with no high-risk conditions.  The article says influenza is likely the most lethal vaccine-preventable childhood illness in the United States, far overshadowing chickenpox, whooping cough or the measles as reported by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.  I am very thankful that the media is letting people know how serious influenza can be.  I was also told about a website www.familiesfightingflu.com.  It has some very good information and links on it.   Please help us in spreading the word on influenza!

Now is the time to remember to wash your hands good.  Hand washing not only helps to stop the spread of flu, but so many other diseases also.  If your child does become ill, remember that no one knows your child better than you do.  Follow your instincts!

This time of year we all get very busy with the upcoming holidays.  Try to take some time to reflect on all of your blessings.  Give your children extra hugs and kisses.  What could be a better present than that?

Wishing you a Happy and Healthy Christmas!
